Lexus Racing at the 64th Rolex 24 at Daytona

At the 64th edition of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, hosted at Daytona International Speedway from January 21 to 26, 2006, Lexus Racing and Vasser Sullivan celebrated dual top-ten finishes. The grueling 24-hour race concluded with the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 placing ninth in the GTD division, while the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 secured 10th in the GTD PRO class.

Starting from the 14th spot, the No. 12 team featured Benjamin Pedersen in his inaugural outing for Lexus and Vasser Sullivan. He passed the car to Frankie Montecalvo, followed by stints from Aaron Telitz and Esteban Masson. By Saturday night, the group had surged into the top five. Unfortunately, a caution period lasting over six hours due to poor visibility hindered their momentum early Sunday. While they couldn't maintain their top-five standing through the final laps, they finished a commendable ninth among 21 competing teams.

The No. 14 entry began its GTD PRO campaign in 11th place with veteran Jack Hawksworth at the wheel. He was joined by Kyle Kirkwood and Ben Barnicoat, with the trio rotating through driving duties for the duration of the endurance event. The team successfully led a lap during the lengthy morning caution but faced adversity with less than four hours remaining. A slow pit stop for mechanical repairs and a subsequent penalty dropped them back, but strategic driving allowed them to recover and clinch a 10th-place finish.

The next challenge for Lexus and Vasser Sullivan will be the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 21. If you want to learn more about the performance of Lexus Racing or view our high-quality selection of Lexus vehicles, please stop by our Lexus dealership in Mission Viejo.
